Special Sequencing Charts

The information on this webpage should be consulted if a student fails to complete a sequence of courses required by a program.

Most two-course sequences pose no problem in that the two courses on quarters are converted to two courses on semesters. Problems in conversion do arise, however, with quarter system sequences of three (and four) courses, which are usually converted to two (and three) courses on the semester system. In the diagrams below, the arrows indicate the distribution of course content from quarter system courses to semester system courses.

If sequence problems arise for courses others than those shown, please consult with the department offering the courses.

Illustrated below is the conversion of CHE 121, 122, 123 (General Chemistry) on the quarter system to the equivalent two courses (Principles of Chemistry) on the semester system:

This illustration assumes that a student needs to complete a year of chemistry (3 courses on quarters or 2 courses on semesters).

Illustrated below is the conversion of MAT 131, 132, 133, 235 to three semester courses of Calculus:

The illustration assumes that the student needs to complete four quarters or three semesters of calculus.

Illustrated below is the conversion of foreign language courses from a four- course sequence on the quarter system to a four-course sequence on the semester system:

Illustrated below is the conversion of a three-course nursing sequence on the quarter system to a two-course nursing sequence on the semester system:
