Q Will the change to semesters affect tuition?
A The yearly tuition will not change as a result of the conversion to semesters. Students will pay for two semesters instead of three quarters, thereby making two payments instead of three. Because there are fewer terms per year on a semester system (two) than on the quarter system (three), students will make two larger, rather than three smaller, payments per year.
Q Will the change to semesters affect financial aid?
A Financial aid recipients should notice no change to the amount of financial aid awarded. Costs of attendance and yearly award amounts should remain the same, but will be divided into two semesters instead of three quarters. However, in order to insure that aid is available at the time of registration, students will need to apply for assistance earlier than they do now because the Fall Semester will start in August instead of September.
Q How many semester hours do students need to take to qualify for financial aid?
A To qualify for financial aid (Pell Grant, Hope Scholarship, etc.) a student needs to enroll half time or 6 semester hours (undergraduate student). This is true any semester, including summer.
