How do I transfer credits from another institution to CSU?
Credits are transferred by
submitting official transcripts from all
institutions you have previously
attended. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. The transcripts will be processed
and a determination will be made as to which
credits will be transferred and whether you are
accepted to the institution.
Has CSU received my transcripts from another institution?
Contact the Office of Admissions at (706) 507-8800. You may also check your application status online via
ISIS by logging into CougarNet at http://cougarnet.colstate.edu
Once you are accepted to CSU and your transcripts have been evaluated for transfer credit, you will be able to
view in ISIS those courses from all previously attended institutions that were accepted at CSU.

Can an evaluation of transferred
credit be processed before
applying for admission to CSU?
No;
evaluations are only processed after application for admission is made to CSU.

Office of Admissions. No partial
evaluations are processed. Processing time may be longer during

I graduated from Columbus College but I want a diploma that
reads Columbus State University. Can this be done?
If you graduated from Columbus College before its designation as
Columbus State University in 1998, you will not be able to obtain
a diploma that reads Columbus State University. However, you may
obtain a “Certificate of Graduation”. This certificate is printed on
diploma paper and states that you are a graduate of Columbus
College, a predecessor of Columbus State University and thereby recognized
as an alumnus of CSU. There is a $25.00 fee for the certificate. Contact the Alumni Relations Office at (706) 568-2280 or visit
them on the first floor of Richards Hall or on-line at
http://ua.colstate.edu/alumni/

What courses are needed for a second degree?
Core Areas A-E are waived. If the degree is from another institution, a
copy of that institution’s transcript will be sent to the academic
department of the desired second degree to determine if any other courses
can be waived. The academic department will need to complete a DER adjustment form to waive any other courses/areas.
What is a DER?
DER is Degree Evaluation Record used in evaluating a student's degree
progress. Access your DER report at
https://zeus.colstate.edu:9000/pls/prod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin

What are the requirements for
taking a CSU online/internet
class?
If I don’t meet the hardware and/or software requirements
for a CSU online/internet course, will CSU make special arrangements for
me to receive and deliver course work?
CSU normally
does not make special arrangements for the delivery of online/internet
course work. You may choose to contact the individual instructor, as
certain considerations are left to his/her discretion.
I have registered for classes but I can’t pay the fees by
the payment deadline. Will my courses be held until I can make
arrangements for payment?
Tuition and fees must be paid by the fee payment
deadline or classes will be dropped for
non-payment.

How do I obtain proof of enrollment
at CSU?
Enrollment
verifications are processed through the National Student Clearinghouse
Student Self-Service Site as a free service to CSU students. From
this site you can print enrollment certificates (which can be sent to
health insurances, housing providers and others), view enrollment history,
check enrollment verifications that the Clearinghouse has provided to
student service providers on your behalf, view student loan deferments and
link to real-time information on student loans. Access to this
secure site is available through ISIS at
http://isis.colstate.edu/
I took a short-term class. When will my grade be available
on my academic record?
Grades are not posted to
students’ academic records until the end of the
term and are not considered official
until all end-of-term processing has been
completed, usually within three (3) business days from the last day of final exams. Grades for short-term classes can be
viewed on students’ academic advising records if
the grades have been entered by the
instructor.
Where are my grades?
You may view your
grades in ISIS once they have been posted to your academic record at the
end of each term

How do I compute my GPA?
(1)
Multiply the number of grade points earned
(A=4; B=3; C=2; D=1;
F=0; WF=0) by the number of GPA credit hours for the
course.
(2)
Add all GPA credit hours together.
(3)
Add all grade points together.
(4)
Divide the total grade points by the total number of GPA credit
hours.
What are the different types of GPAs used at CSU?
The following grade point
averages are computed and are used to
determine the fulfillment of
academic requirements: semester, Regents’ (cumulative), institutional, overall, degree progress (CAPP) and major. The semester, Regents’ (cumulative),
institutional and overall grade point averages appear on the official academic transcript. GPA hours are
determined using grades of A, B, C, D, F and WF, excluding courses numbered
0001-0999.
What grades are used to compute my GPA?
Grades of A, B, C, D,
F and WF are used in computing a student's grade point average. Grades of I, IP, W, S, U, V
and K do not have GPA hours or grade points and are not used in computing a grade point average.
What do I do if I feel
there is an error in my GPA?
Contact the Registrar’s
Office at (706) 568-2237.
I have been reinstated on academic probation. Why do I have
to wait until late registration to register for the next term?
The academic progress of all students is evaluated at
the end of each semester. Therefore, grades
for the current term must be processed so that it can be
verified that the criteria for reinstatement have been met.

My hours/GPA seem to be incorrect because of the quarter to
semester conversion.
A student's GPA will not change because of the
conversion to semesters. Hours attempted
and hours earned will be multiplied by two-thirds to semester credits. For more information
concerning semester conversion, click
on
Semester Conversion Main Menu
How is my academic standing determined?
The progress of all students is evaluated at the end of each semester. Determination of academic standing is based on
a student’s overall and semester grade point
averages and the number of course attempts in required learning support subject areas. GPA hours and grade
points earned at other institutions are used in computing grade point
averages as they
affect academic standing.
I feel a grade I received is unfair. Can I appeal?
A
student may appeal a grade received as well as certain degree
requirements. A student
who wishes to exercise this right should follow the appropriate procedure as follows:
1. To appeal a grade the student feels is unfair or inaccurate, follow the academic grievance process
listed under the Student Rights and
Responsibilities section of the Student Handbook at
http://sa.colstate.edu/Handbook/handbook2003.pdf
2. To appeal a requirement in Areas A-F of the core curriculum or a general university requirement, the student
should meet with his advisor to discuss the nature
of the appeal. If there is merit to the appeal, the advisor will
assist the student in completing an Exception Petition form to be submitted to
the university’s Academic Standards Committee for review. If approved by the Committee, the
petition will be forwarded to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for a final decision.
